Why it works
Supabase is built on open-source software: Postgres, PostgREST, GoTrue, Realtime and Storage. That lets us run the same components on our own infrastructure in the EU — every project as a separate, isolated stack of services. We don't maintain an expensive global network; we focus on the regions where our customers are.
API compatibility means we don't lock you in. An app built for HostBase works with Supabase and vice versa. We want you to stay because it's good — not because you can't leave.
What we're building next
- a connection pooler (Supavisor) and point-in-time recovery,
- off-server backups and more EU regions,
- OAuth and custom SMTP configuration in the dashboard, team member invites,
- usage billing with a spend cap, plus BLIK and Przelewy24 payments,
- database branching for preview environments.
